MISSION, VISION AND GUIDING
PRINCIPLES
“ We’re rescuing families and rebuilding young men… mind, soul and body” Southeastern Military Academy is a specialized boarding
and day school that provides academic and behavioral management services to boys
in grades 5-12. The military tradition enables the school to achieve desired
results by immersing the students in a highly focused and disciplined
environment while at the same time providing high quality individualized
academic strategies that allow the students to achieve success in the classroom
environment. Mission: To provide struggling young people the highest quality
education possible, incorporating the principles of leadership, discipline,
patriotism, and honor in a military environment. Our primary intent is to help
enable students to become productive citizens and to help them shape their
futures into satisfying and fulfilling lives. We will instill in young Americans, through a multi-faceted Cadet program which is physically and mentally challenging and rewarding, the importance of national pride, service to others and maintaining a drug-free and gang-free lifestyle by utilizing all available talent, energy, and resources to provide education and behavioral redirection for students ages 11-17. As
a school of academic excellence, the school shall strive to provide students an
opportunity to access education services in a highly structured, challenging,
competent, safe, unique learning environment to prepare them to be literate,
employable, independent, and productive members of society. The school shall
provide outreach services that include collaboration with district school
boards, community agencies, businesses and the community in general and shall
encourage input from students, staff, parents, and the community. Vision: To
be the premier Military Academy Cadet program in the United States, noted for
its dedication to youth, quality of training and respect for the heritage and
traditions of the United States Army, providing an
institution of behavioral redirection and academic achievement un-equaled within
the educational community of St. Lucie County, the State of Florida, and the
United States. We intend to become
a model for other youth programs and schools that will be exemplified throughout
the country. This standard will be emulated in every facet of school operations:
individual student achievement, excellence in staff and faculty, classroom
management, student organizations, extracurricular activities and community
involvement.
Guiding Principles: To
effectively accomplish our Mission and Vision, we subscribe to the following
principles: §
The development of the
individual Cadet as an American is the sole purpose of the U.S. Army Cadet Corps
of Southeastern Military Academy. No aspect of our organization is to take
priority over our mission of developing America’s youth. §
We will endeavor to provide a
program that is challenging, exciting and rewarding. We will encourage Cadets to
test their physical, mental and emotional limits while ensuring a realistic,
safe and wholesome training environment. §
The Officers’ and NCO Corps
exist to serve the Cadets, providing young people the opportunity to learn
leadership, self-confidence and patriotism. Cadets will be involved in as much
of the day-to-day operation of the U.S. Army Cadet Corps of Southeastern
Military Academy, at all levels, as is reasonably possible. We are a training
ground for tomorrow’s leaders, and accept that mistakes may be made in order
to learn valuable lessons. § Communication is essential to success. All members of the U.S. Army Cadet Corps of Southeastern Military Academy – regardless of rank – are encouraged to communicate openly and honestly, within the parameters of good order and discipline.
